Have you ever wondered what in the world some of these everyday sayings mean that people lazily throw around? I have. I wonder along with Shawn Spencer why people say, “I couldn’t care less.” When in actuality they really could. I wonder what it does to people when they quote and live Shakespeare’s line, “All is well that ends well.” I wonder if we are being hypocritical if we say we believe in the God of the Bible and we say “good luck” to people. Generally I wonder if subtle lines of common culture actually steal away the truth of our existence and we don’t even know it.
Jesus said that we are to be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. Therefore we are not afforded the luxury of simply being caught up in popular vernacular. We must think. We must investigate. And we must speak truth.
