honest worship

December 29, 2009

i don’t know about you, but sometimes when i’m singing a worship song, i don’t believe half of the words that are coming out of my mouth. we often use phrases like, “you’re my everything,” “i’m only yours,” etc, etc, but how often are these words truly reflective of our hearts? this isn’t a diss (we’re still using that term, right?) on any songs in particular, but i think i’m not alone when i say that i don’t always feel what i say. and, unfortunately, i don’t think there are too many songs that actually reflect our true feelings.

what i am saying is that it is possible to be honest with God in our praise. sometimes when we pray, i think we tend to simply say what sounds good, but what if we truly just say how we feel? there is nothing wrong in saying, God, i’m not where i want to be, but help me get there. we’re not called to always have a perfect relationship with God, just a heart for one.

We used this image for our call to Worship and everyone commented on it. They really felt touched by this image. Thanks for your work. God Bless.
