For Laura and Jason

April 9, 2010

An open prayer on your wedding day.

God, thanks for Laura and Jason. As much as I have grown to love them over the months that I have known them, and I know that there are so many others who love them dearly, Your love for them is powerful and perfect. You watched them and cared for them as they grew. You held them in your hands and prepared them for your service, and for one another. I pray for a beautiful Michigan day. I pray for good health and safety. I pray that you would fill their hearts with love and joy today, and forever. But most of all, God, I pray that your will be done in them and through them. Your will is their ultimate desire. As they begin their journey through life together, guide their steps, bind their hearts together in perfect harmony, and keep their eyes set on you. Thank you for this day!

12Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. 15And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. 16Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:12-17
